I got Fraxel and now I’m scarred. What treatment can I get to remove the dark spots on my face?

Hi… first I would need to see pictures to actually be able to look at the “spots” so I can give you the best advice. In general I don’t think that dark spots are necessarily scars but can be just hyperpigmentation from the laser process. These types of spots can happen but usually treatment with topical agents such as Retin-A and bleaching agents will lighten them and can make them go away. The FIRST thing I would do is to discuss your concerns with the practitioner who performed the Fraxel and get their advice. That person will likely have some experience with this had have some suggestions for making it better. Hope this helps.

I’m sorry to hear of your problem as I have some patients experiencing the same problem. Bleaching creams will usually not do the trick. Lasers specific for darker spots could help as mentioned by Dr. Garcia. and if the spots are limited and you developed some hypopigmentation, the darker areas could be lasered again with the goal to create a more uniform, hypopigmentation. Testing the laser would be a good idea before embarking on this option.

I would suggest a Q-switched YAG laser for the spots. It is not an ablative laser so it treats the spots instead of causing them
