Hello! I am 18 years and I am really interested in getting liposuction to remove my belly fat and fat from my arms. No matter how hard I try to exercise and eat healthy, I don’t see results. The women in my family have thick arms as well and so I got that and I’m never comfortable wearing tank tops without a sweater or jacket covering my arms. I long for the day that I can finally wear the clothes I find appealing instead of settling for the frumpy ones that fit me. I would like to know if I am a good candidate for this surgery? Thank you for the help!

Hi… although to really give you good information about liposuction it would be necessary to see photos and, ideally, you in person I can tell you that based on your age you are likely to be a reasonable to good candidate for liposuction. You will need to see a plastic surgeon near you for a proper evaluation but liposuction is ideally suited to individuals who have collections of fat in spots that they don’t want as well as good skin tone. At 18, you will very likely have good skin and so the surgery to vacuum out the fat and have the skin retract (liposuction) is commonly very successful in situations like yours. My best advice is to seek out a board certified plastic surgeon and get their evaluation(s) so that you can make an informed decision about whether to proceed. Hope this helps

Hi and thanks for your question. Liposuction is an ideal procedure to treat small areas of excess, unwanted fat in the abdomen and upper arms. However, it would be necessary to see photos of these areas to offer some suggestions. Remember that no one can really give you medical advice on this site. Nothing replaces a personal consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon who can assess your concerns and offer reasonable alternatives. Best of luck.

The areas you mention are common ares t have liposuction performed. An in-person consultation is the best way to determine what exactly you need. Short of that, seeing pictures can help. The fees for such surgery depend on time required and that is where the added information is required. Feel free to contact me at drgarcia@lvcosmeticsurgery.com if you have any other questions.

On the assumption that your areas of concern are truly areas of excessive fat, you would be a great candidate for liposuction. You could also consider CoolSculpting as an alternative provided a reasonable revision policy is in place as they are not as predictable as liposuction itself. Your skin should contract nicely following the procedure. Find a local plastic surgeon and get your consultation, and even better, a surgeon that has both tools at his/her disposal so you can better evaluate the outcomes provided during your consultation.
