Georgia On My Mind

NEW YORK, NEW YORK: Created in 1932 for an exhibition of 60 contemporary artists at the New York Museum of Modern Art, Manhattan is part of O’Keeffe’s triptych of modern New York cityscapes. It includes three floating flowers, her personal signature.

SIGHT LINES: When macular degeneration seriously limited O’Keefe’s eyesight, she continued to create drawings with exquisite abstract marks that came from her study of Asian calligraphy styles. This untitled watercolor on paper is part of a collection of about 40, each consisting of just a few strokes and dots from a wide brush.
